Pub Tests Wireless Handheld POS

Wheaton, MD— The Royal Mile Pub is testing the ASI Handheld (www.actionsystems.com) wireless handheld POS System. After twelve months in development and six months in beta testing, the Windows CE-based system is being introduced at the National Restaurant Association show in Chicago today.

The ASI Handheld relies on handwriting recognition to create a POS System that can be used as easily as a pencil and pad. Waiters use the ASI Handheld to quickly write down orders and then send the order to the kitchen with a tap of the stylus. Managers use the ASI Handheld to do anything from printing checks for waiting customers to viewing the status of all open orders. Managers can also use the ASI Handheld to view real-time sales reports, "86" an item, or receive alerts when employees near overtime, etc.

"Within a month of installing the ASI Handheld my revenues were up over 14%, due mostly to faster table turns," explains Ray Morrison, owner of The Royal Mile Pub. "The ASI Handheld has also allowed me to cut my staffing requirements and labor costs. When servers are freed up to spend more time on the restaurant floor they can easily handle larger stations."
